Keeping your eyelash extension in good condition is important. Once it comes to eyelash extensions they are nothing like high maintenance. You have to keep it in good condition because they are close to your eyes and you don’t want anything infecting your eyes.

  • Prevent infections from your eyes

Maintaining your lash extension can prevent eye infection. You should be careful of the things you put in or close to your eyes.

  • Make them last longer

There is a saying that goes like this,

“if you have something of great quality take of it”. If you take care of your eyelashes it will last longer than expected, that is you don’t need to buy brand new ones all the time.

  • Clean your eyelash extensions properly after the first 48 hours.
  • Clean your eyelash extensions at least every 3 days with a soft brush and an eyelash extension cleaner.
  • Bush them every morning to make them look nice and clean.
  • Remove all makeup applied to the eyelash extension before sleep every day.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes, this could damage your eyelash extension.

What not to do:

  • Do not get them wet for at least 48 hours after fixing them.
  • Avoid using waterproof makeup on your lash extension, it could soften the glue used.
  • New eyelash extensions can feel weird at first, after a few hours or days, they will become ok. Avoid picking them.
  • Avoid sleeping with your face facing the pillow. Doing that will damage your lash extensions.
  • Avoid cluster lashes, they are heavy and can pull on your natural lash. Cluster lashes can damage your natural lashes.
  • Avoid using eyelash curlers all the time. They can damage your lash extensions. If you must use one, then be very careful or get an expert.

How long do Lash extension Last

It takes about 4-5 weeks before you have to remove them, but with proper care, they could lash up to 8 weeks.

When removing them, be very careful in order not to damage your natural eyelashes. If cannot do that, then visit an expert.

Signs of Bad Lash Extensions

  •    You can’t brush through your lashes easily:

One of the first signs for bad lash extensions is if you cant easily brush them. You will notice when brushing them, you will encounter some discomfort and snagging. This snagging can be a result of too much glue been applied to the lash extension. This can lead to breakage and can also affect your natural lashes.

  • When your eyes get irritated by your lashes:

If an eyelash extension is fixed improperly, it can lead to it twisting. If it touches your eyes, it can cause irritation.

  • Eye burning during application:

If experience a little eye-watering when applying a lash extension, that is ok. But if your eye begins to burn, then something is wrong. It is advised to stop the process immediately because it can cause more damage.

  • Doesn’t last long:

With so many products out there, picking a quality lash extension is important. It is very easy to confuse a bad quality lash extension for a good one. A good quality lash extension should last at least 2 – 4 weeks. Anything lower than this, then the lash extension is of bad quality.

  • When they are of different sizes:

If you find your lash extension of different sizes, then it is either a result of bad manufacturing, a mistake from your technician, or a packaging error.

  • Check they are a licensed or certified eyelash technician:

Having a form of certification shows they are licensed and are qualified to fix or treat your lashes. While certification does show how much a person knows, it will at least let you know, that a technician has undergone a form of training.

  • They should offer a consultation before fixing or treatment.

You should search about the company online, check their website, and browse their catalog.

Check through social media for their company, so you can see more pictures and videos of their work. You can also see the process of the treatment if the technician puts it online.

  • Check for Reviews about them.

Reviews are important, this is how you know what people think about the technicians. Go online check for reviews, or you can get in touch with any current or previous client to know what they think.

  • Ask for the products they use and google search it:

Before any treatments start, you must check the kind of products being used. Search them online, look at the chemicals it contains. This is important because this is how you will know if any can cause irritation or can harm your natural lashes.
